How Working With a Coach Helped JonesHaus Win More Business
Recently, going into its sixth year, with a portfolio of slick and professionally designed websites and a successful track record in branding start-ups to working with Fortune 100 clients, JonesHaus wanted to impact more clients.
But how?
To expedite growth, its founder and creative director, Kimberly Jones enlisted the help of business coach, Lindsey Anderson. Here’s a “Q & A” first with Kim and then, Lindsey that shares what the relationship between a coach and coaching client looks like and how it helped JoneHaus grow its clients’ business as well as her own.

Questions for Kimberly
Q: Why did you decide to get coaching?
Kim: My agency was helping clients grow their businesses and I wanted to do the same for JonesHaus. If I had a spare hour, I focused on adding value to my clients rather than on the business of JonesHaus. I needed someone to hold me accountable for my own marketing such as updating the website, outbound marketing, Facebook ads and targeted landing pages. Hiring Lindsey has allowed me to stay on track and accomplish the things I needed to do to move my business forward.
Q: Why did you choose Lindsey?
Kim: I first joined her “Steal My Funnel Challenge” in February 2019 to generate more web traffic. After a “30-minute discovery call,” I was impressed by her knowledge of how online businesses can successfully convert prospects to clients and instinctively knew she’d help us grow and scale.
Q: What do you enjoy most working with Lindsey?
Kim: Lindsey is sincere in her guidance, willing to answer questions and truly cares about JonesHaus’ success. She’s also ready to weigh in anytime I have questions about proposals, social media and staffing. And that makes her a tremendous value for my business.
Q: How has she helped your business?
Kim: She set actionable social media goals with reasonable timetables for me to achieve them – you know how I love a good deadline! The first thing I did was update my LinkedIn profile, changing my selfie to a professional headshot and optimizing the headline with keywords. LinkedIn has now become an essential part of how I market JonesHaus.
Next, she challenged me to create new and relevant content where I could share lessons learned and business wins. In June 2019, we launched our blog, The Atelier. Check out The Art of Getting in The Zone. The first post about the similarities between equestrian sports and design includes photos snapped by talented photographer and friend, Kevin Garrett at the barn with my horse, Frank Sinatra.
Finally, Lindsey encouraged me to design a more robust homepage for JonesHaus.com by showcasing new work, optimizing its SEO strategy and refreshing its design and typography. The previous design of the site did not showcase my talents and services as strongly as I wanted, nor did it position JonesHaus to look as large as it actually is. (Our company uses senior talent and we work collaboratively and virtually.)
Had it not been for Lindsey, I would have not had the direction to rebrand and unite JoneHaus social media platforms, website and blog – all of which led to a waiting list of clients needing new websites and brands of their own. Also, because of our new cohesive image, JonesHaus was invited and actually won the pitch for a major name in the do-it-yourself building industry.
As we move into the second quarter of 2020, we’ll be focusing on growing social media, specifically through Facebook and Instagram ads, which I’ll also be offering to new and existing clients. To schedule a free 30-minute consultation, click here.
Q: Has hiring Lindsey been a good investment for your biz? Why?
Kim: Yes, she’s been a great investment in my business and mindset. I love the one-on-one attention I get. I have more confidence. I’ve been held accountable. I’ve learned things I did not know – 2019 was the best year ever for JonesHaus in terms of growth – creatively, client-wise and financially. I was able to take a much-needed vacation in October after a very busy summer.
Lindsey Anderson, Build and Monetize Masters
Questions for Lindsey
Q: Why did you become a business coach?
Lindsey: I never actually set out with to become one. Originally, I saw small business owners struggling with doing their own digital marketing and failing because they didn’t have the right resources.
My intention was to create an affordable, hands-on program where I could teach small business owners how to successfully market online for an affordable monthly price — basically taking their hand and walking them step-by-step through the process. It’s a “done-with-you” service as we’ve come to call it.
Over time, it just grew into its own thing where I stopped teaching only digital marketing and expanded to all of the things you need to build and monetize your business. Even now, I don’t really think of it as coaching. I see myself as more of a consultant to the members of Build and Monetize Masters, the only program of its kind that will guide you step by step to a highly profitable business.
Q: What do you love about being a coach?
Lindsey: Gosh, a lot of things! If I had to pick one, it’d be the impact I’m able to make in my clients’ businesses. As a coach, you’re able to see results in different ways as you guide your clients through different benchmarks. The results are there. It’s crazy! I’ve never been happier or more excited than when a Build and Monetize Masters member comes to me to excitedly say they closed their first sale or 20 people showed up for their Facebook Live. Those results are proof that their businesses are growing. And that kind of impact is so meaningful – not only for them, but for me, too.
Q: How does coaching increase one's personal and business success?
Lindsey: I’ll first say I 100% believe every business owner should have a business coach. I don’t even care if it’s me. They should just have someone who is walking beside them through the process of building a business. The right business coach knows all the shortcuts and can get you to where you are going faster. They’ve been down the path before, they’ve jumped all the hurdles, experienced the worst challenges, learned all the hard lessons and come out on the other side successfully. They have walked through all that tough stuff so that their coaching clients don’t have to. Plus, a good coach will push you to be better than you ever dreamed while also saving you a LOT of headaches.
Q: How have you helped Kimberly Jones and JonesHaus specifically?
Lindsey: One of the biggest things we did to help Kim was give her actionable advice in order to improve her marketing. For example, one thing she was not doing before our time together was regularly emailing her email list. If you aren’t regularly emailing your list, there is huge untapped potential there. So of course, I told her to start emailing those folks at least once a month to engage them. As a result, some of her subscribers reached out to her, saying they were interested in working with her. This simple action of emailing her list led to a direct increase in clients! Of course, this was because Kim is so professional and skilled. It was simply a matter of being in front of that audience that lead to big results.
Q: What is the unique challenge in working with Kim?
Lindsey: Kim already had a pretty great platform of clients when she first came into the Build and Monetize Masters Program. So, while getting more clients and work was one of the side effects of our work together, it wasn’t an absolute necessity or the end-all-be-all like it is for a lot of other coaching clients. Instead, we had to adjust our expectations of what was important to fit more of what was important to her or see goals a little differently, beyond just revenue or more clients.
Q: How is working with JonesHaus similar to working with other clients?
Lindsey: We’ve worked with a lot of digital agencies in the past, whether it’s digital marketing agencies, branding agencies, web design agencies, and so on and so forth, and JonesHaus definitely falls under that umbrella. The interesting thing about working with clients like this is that they are generally pretty skilled in the digital marketing space already, whether that’s knowing the importance of having a beautiful site and consistent branding, knowing how SEO works or having experience with Facebook ads manager.
In those situations, we usually aren’t helping build from the ground up and instead are simply supplementing their knowledge with our own and filling in the gaps on things they maybe don’t have as much experience with.
Q: If you could give any entrepreneur one tip for monetizing their business, what would it be?
Lindsey: Find your niche. I know “niche” is such a buzzword. But seriously, picking a niche and sticking with it will completely change your business. You need to zero in on that perfect client as specifically as you can because that person has specific challenges and pain points that only you can solve. It will completely transform your messaging, help with branding and make it so much easier for you to impact your clients!
